Living in Hampton Roads

Located in Virginia's extreme south-eastern corner, you will find Hampton Roads often referred to as the "Home of Seven Cities."

Core cities include Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Nortfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Virginia Beach. Hampton Roads is also home to the largest concentration of military personnel in the country.

The weather is pleasantly moderate, and you will experience all four seasons. Summers are warm enough to enjoy the beach and water and winters are mild and don't tend to last long.

If you love the water, Hampton Roads is the place for you! Popular pastimes include, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, surfing and deep-sea fishing in one of the many waterways.

Hampton Roads is also home to numerous state parks. Back Bay and False Cape State Parks, located in Virginia Beach, provide numerous miles of hiking and biking trails, environment educational centers and primitive camping facilities. First Landing State Park provides 20 miles of trails, as well as 1.5 miles of sandy Chesapeake Bay beach frontage to enjoy the weather.
